Simple. Repeatable. Actionable.

Cybersecurity takes all of us.

This message was sent to the Yale community on July 21, 2021

Dear Members of the Yale community,

As you may be aware, cybersecurity risk is increasing worldwide at a rapid pace and posing a growing threat to the work we do at Yale. All of us have a role to play in making a significant difference in Yale’s cybersecurity.

Yale requires an open, distributed technology environment to support its mission. While this open technology environment affords us greater work flexibility, it also presents greater cybersecurity risks. Balancing this flexibility with risk needs our collective effort.

In 2020 we worked together to launch DUO Everywhere for Yale. This initiative has resulted in a dramatic positive outcome for Yale NetID security. Our next step is to maintain this momentum as a community.

Introducing the Cybersecurity Awareness Program

I would like to announce the launch of Yale's Cybersecurity Awareness program. This program, guided by the Cybersecurity Awareness Advisory Board, will inform the community on simple, repeatable actions it can take to maintain Yale’s cybersecurity.

The program will present various cybersecurity topics, beginning with four foundational themes for this year. The first topic will be “Click with Caution,” addressing how one can identify and react to social engineering messages used by cybercriminals.

Check out the It’s Your Yale website for more information in the weeks ahead, and visit  cybersecurity.yale.edu/awareness for helpful tips to keep your workspace secure. Please feel free to email us at information.security@yale.edu with any questions or concerns.
