Don't Be Fooled by Cybercriminals

Do you know that cybercrime is expected to cost the world $10.5 Trillion annually by 2025?

Hackers, bad actors, and online thieves are pros at talking us out of our money and data.

Don’t get fooled by their cunning tricks!

Each year, their schemes become more sophisticated. Here are a few current scams to watch out for:

  • Scammers with legitimate-looking websites asking for donations to support Ukraine
  • During tax season, compromised or forged emails asking a person for information about their W-2 form
  • Timely phishing campaigns with malicious links that align with the daily news cycles (they work quickly to capitalize)
  • Scam texts that appear to originate from your own cell phone number notifying you that your bill has been paid and offering an enticement to click on a link to receive a gift

What can you do? Hone your danger detection skills.

  1. Click with Caution - Slow down and pause before reacting.
  2. Trust your gut – if a site, email, or text gives you an uncomfortable feeling, don’t click or respond.
  3. Hover to discover - hover over the “from” email address to see if it is legitimate.

No need to be fooled. Together, we can build our cybersecurity awareness detection skills to protect ourselves at home and work.
