Guideline for Completing an ITS Disaster Recovery (DR) Plan (Yale-MSS-3.1 GD.01)

This guideline applies to IT Systems that Information Technology Services (ITS) owns or administers. These Yale IT Systems need an ITS Disaster Recovery (DR) plan.

There are additional requirements for creating an ITS DR Plan. You can ensure you meet these requirements by answering a few question. If you answer yes to these questions, you have met your requirements for ITS DR Plans.

  • Are the below items of the IT System's risk classification up to date? Are they updated in Service-Now (i.e. Application Inventory, Service Catalog)?
  • Does your DR Plan exist and is it stored at veoci.com?
  • Has the subject matter expert validated the recovery steps with the DR Plan Owner? This validation needs to occur before approval in veoci.com.
  • Has the recovery plan received an annual approval from the DR Plan Owner? Has the recovery plan and supporting documents been exported to the Yale DR Box folder?
  • Are you keeping this recovery plan up to date when changes occur to it or dependent IT Systems?
  • Do all team members have the Yale DR Box folder synchronized to their desktop for use during a disaster?
  • Has the DR Plan been validated through an actual or tabletop exercise? Is this validation occurring on an annual basis?
