A firewall is a tool that protects incoming and outgoing network traffic. Yale's firewalls allow or block incoming data based on a set of security rules. Information Security manages these security rules. Our firewalls protect IT Systems in the following areas:
- ITS Data Centers
- Public Safety
- Yale's network perimeter
- Yale Medical School
- Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments
Any changes to the firewall require you to submit a request.
Submit a Firewall Request Form
After you submit your request, you will receive a confirmation email. The Information Security team will review any changes before implementing them. We aim to resolve all firewall changes within 1-2 business days. However, if you need a faster turnaround, call the Security Operations on-call number at 203-627-4665.
Once the change is complete, we ask that you test and confirm the firewall rule works as intended.
