Protect It Because It’s All Connected — Yale and Home

From your Yale login to your personal email, banking, shopping, and social media accounts, your credentials are the keys to your digital life. When one account is compromised, it doesn’t always stay isolated. Attackers count on the connections (like reused passwords, shared recovery emails, and familiar habits) to move from one account to another.

That’s why our spring campaign is focused on a simple truth:
Like a row of dominoes — when one account falls, others can follow.

Join us April 20 through April 24 to build your cyber muscles, test your instincts, and learn how to better protect your identity one habit at a time.

Why This Matters

Cybercriminals aren’t targeting “work accounts” or “personal accounts” — they’re targeting us.

A compromised personal account can:

  • Expose reused passwords that might unlock Yale systems
  • Be used to send convincing phishing messages to your colleagues and beyond
  • Provide clues (like recovery emails or security questions) to access other accounts

A compromised Yale account can:

  • Put sensitive, confidential data or institutional systems at risk
  • Be leveraged to target others in the Yale community
  • Interrupt the systems and processes teams rely on

How Attacks Happen

Most attacks don’t start with sophisticated hacking, they start with everyday moments and familiar habits. Attackers take advantage of how our accounts are connected, looking for one small opening that can lead to something bigger.

In this campaign, you’ll learn how to spot common tactics like:

  • Fake login pages that look like trusted services
  • “You’ve been sent a file” messages used for phishing through shared documents
  • Fake sign-ups that capture your credentials and test them on other accounts
  • Password reuse attacks that turn one compromised account into many

The good news? These are all tactics you can learn to recognize and avoid.

One Identity. Protected Together.

Small actions—like using strong, unique passwords, enabling MFA, and using a password manager—can make a big difference.

Because when it comes to your identity, it’s all connected. Protect you and Yale by learning more with us. Sign up for challenge alerts today!
