October isn’t just about pumpkins, costumes, and apple cider donuts. It’s also Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
Why does it matter? Because cybersecurity isn’t just a work thing, it’s a life thing. From protecting your bank account to keeping your personal messages private, good cyber habits keep the bad guys out.
And while we’re all about cozy fall vibes, nothing ruins a good season like a cyber scare. That’s why this year’s theme is: Get Connected to Bee Protected.

So, what’s the buzz?
Throughout October, we’ll be serving up events, resources, and activities. Our programs will help you protect yourself and our community. Cybersecurity might sound technical. The truth: it’s about keeping your personal information safe from cybercriminals.
And trust us, those folks are creative (and not in a fun pumpkin-carving kind of way).
Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming:
- October 9: How Cybercrime is Monetized. Ever wondered how criminals turn hacks into cold hard cash? This joint webinar with Harvard University will give you the inside scoop.
 - The Hive: Yale’s Cyber Buzz. Introducing a new space for our Yale community to connect and share about online safety. Think engaging polls, self-paced activities, and simple tips to boost your cyber IQ.
 - Bee Cyber Fit Video Series. We’ll debut our bite-sized videos designed to sharpen your cyber smarts.
 - Games & Interactive Activities. Because learning to outsmart cybercriminals should be as fun as it is important.
 - Special Guest: Professor Scott Shapiro. Yale Law’s own cyber guru, talking about his book Fancy Bear Goes Phishing.

October is our chance to spotlight cybersecurity in a big way with skills that pay off year-round.
