Details
An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) monitors for and alerts on suspicious activity.
An Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) monitors a network for security threats or policy violations. When such activity is identified, the IPS will log and attempt to block the related traffic.
This standard is met if your system is deployed on the University's network.
