In this session, Morrow Long, Principal Security Officer, will discuss social media. The discussion will focus around:
- Some of the many security and privacy issues with social media
- Appropriate use of social networks - ethical, moral, and legal issues
Please join us for this opportunity to discuss how to keep yourself and your kids safe on social media. With all the different, growing numbers of social media sites, there will be much to discuss! Below is a list of topics we will touch on.
- Practical tips for protecting your identity, privacy, and reputation on social media
- Concerns when integrating social media with web applications or mobile apps
- The individual's personal use of social media, vs. employee use and institutional use
- The current phenomena of:
- misinformation campaigns
- online bullying (e.g. "dox'ing", GamerGate)
- the rise of social influencers in social media
